The search for a method to easily manipulate one of the most inconsistent and difficult features of surfboard construction is over. Spinal Flex will revolutionize the world of shaping with a concept that is innovative, yet simple and cost-effective. The Spinal Flex system provides shapers the opportunity to harness, control, and customize the flex properties of any surfboard design in a production pipeline.

Spinal Flex transforms the quest for the ultimate riding experience into reality. The Spinal Flex philosophy illustrates my pure desire as a shaper to create a formula for easy board manipulation coupled with riders who crave more drive and projection out of every turn along with consistent flex from one board to another. Streamlining feasibility with the intent to surpass both shapers’ and riders’ expectations alike, the Spinal Flex system offers a relatively simple solution to the obstacles that have resonated in the minds of shapers and surfing enthusiasts for decades.

Shapers require a flex system that needs to be fully customizable and conducive to cost-effective productivity. By utilizing standard materials that every shaper is used to, all of these principles, in addition to providing unprecedented performance gains, makes the Spinal Flex system a necessity in the world of shaping. By creating voids in the stringer that act as vertebra allowing flex to occur, these voids are then filled with a rubber material and adhesive providing a very natural, smooth flex that dampens vibrations. Thus giving boards that coveted magic “pop” or liveliness that will last for the life of the board.

Foam – Pre shaped blank by machine cut or hand. The Spinal Flex System was designed with the flexibility to easily work with any type of foam PU, EPS and alternative foams.

Stringer Component – Works with any type of stringer i.e. wood, T-band, plywood or synthetic materials

Rubberized Cord – Rubber is naturally flexible, but also has the ability to return to it’s original form very quickly. The specialized rubber cord used to fill the voids creates the optimal flex, recoil and has the added benefit of dampening vibration. Provides strength to prevent the board from over flexing and breaking.

Void – The base for the Spinal Flex system that allows you the ability to control, customize and add flex.

Adhesive – Industrial rubberized adhesive bonds the rubber inserts to stringer component and foam. This maintains memory and recoil as the board flexes. Helps maintain optimal flex and extends the life of the board.

CFX or Special Sauce Stringer – T-Band stringer consists of 2 pieces of 1/16″ (2mm) wood with a full carbon fiber cloth or Rubberized tape band sandwiched between them. Carbon fiber is wetted with flex resin system that creates unparalleled strength and performance. The Special Sauce, patented tape component, provides both strength and unlimited flexibility and easier on your trim planes.
